UnionPay International Forges Major Strategic Alliance with ACI Worldwide to Grow Global Footprint

UnionPay International announced today a key strategic partnership with ACI Worldwide (ACI), a global leading provider of real-time e-payment and banking solutions. According to the agreement the two sides agree to carry out comprehensive cooperation in card acceptance and issuance and innovative payment, etc.. The two sides will take the lead in enabling hundreds of well-known e-merchants to accept UnionPay Online Payment (UPOP), covering fields of finance, aviation, hotel, e-commerce, retail, and supermarket. ACI provides e-payment service for more than 5,100 institutions around the world, including more than one thousand major financial institutions and merchants. With this cooperation, ACI will integrate UnionPay card payment service in its global payment solutions so that its clients can sign up for the UnionPay payment services in a safe and quick manner. In the first phase of cooperation, ACI's gateway will be the first to integrate the UPOP solutions and make UPOP service available to hundreds of online merchants. In the future, the two sides will jointly promote the UnionPay QR code payment, in-app payment, the cross-border marketing platform "U Plan" and other innovative payment products and services.

Currently, UnionPay card acceptance network has expanded to 168 overseas countries and regions, covering more than 23 million merchants and 1.64 million ATMs, and a total of 90 million UnionPay cards have been issued overseas. UnionPay card service is now available in more than 10 million online merchants that based in more than 200 overseas countries and regions, and has formed its characteristics in the fields of cross-border shopping, tuition payment, and travel reservation.
