  • Enjoy the US with UnionPay services and privileges

    In the US, over 80% merchants accept UnionPay credit cards for payment via signature verification. You can also pay with UnionPay debit cards via PIN at merchants equipped with PIN pad. Over 90% of the ATMs in the US accept UnionPay cards.

    Paying with UnionPay cards in the US:
    1.Most UnionPay credit cards issued by national and regional banks in China support the payment via signature with UnionPay cards in the US (password not required). UnionPay cardholders can contact the issuing banks to cancel transaction PIN prior to departure in order to pay without PIN. 
    2.Many merchants in the US prefer cardholders to swipe their cards on their own by following the instructions shown on the screen of POS equipment. Please choose “Credit” for UnionPay credit cards and “Debit” for UnionPay debit cards.
    3.If some POS terminals prompt “swipe” after a UnionPay chip card is inserted, cardholders may pull out the cards and insert it again into magnetic strip card slot beside to pay. 
    4.UnionPay credit cards and signature debit cards (password not required) are accepted on most of the merchant websites in the US as long as there is a Discover card mark. PIN based debit cards can only be used in merchants where cardholders complete payment on the UnionPay online payment gateway after clicking the UnionPay logo.

  • POS acceptance

    Over 80% of merchants in the U.S. accept UnionPay cards, including major Outlets stores in the US, duty-free shops at major airports, luxury brands such as Chanel, Gucci and Burberry, fashion/sports brands such as Theory, Tory Burch and Nike, large car rental companies such as Avis and Hertz, comprehensive shopping malls such as Macy's and Bloomingdale, supermarkets and convenience stores such as Seven-Eleven and CVS, Disney, Universal Studios, etc.. Since that some of the merchants have yet not put up the UnionPay signage, cardholders may show their UnionPay cards and inquire about UnionPay acceptance.

    When using co-branded cards, payment through UnionPay network is not available to cardholders at most merchants in the US, and you are advised to bring UnionPay cards with card number starting with 62 to enjoy various offers for UnionPay cards in the US.

    Note:Some UnionPay card acceptors or acquirers route co-branded cards  to corresponding card shcem according to the card BIN, which means co-branded cards transactions aren't routed to UnionPay without selection by cardholders and merchant cashiers.     Paying with UnionPay credit card at some local merchants requires no PIN. Cardholders can complete the payment following the instruction of the cashier.   • Cash withdrawal

    Currently, ATMs of most banks in the United States accept UnionPay cards, including more than ten local mainstream banks, such as Wells Fargo, Bank of America, and Citibank, and branches of Bank of China, and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) in the United States. Cardholders can withdraw cash at ATMs displaying the signage of , STAR or NYCE.

Daily cash withdrawal limit from respective issuers and/or ATM may apply. Please consult your issuer on the possible cap on the amount. You may split your withdrawals into several times which comply with the limit(s).

  • Charges

    ATM commission fee consists of two separate fees:
    (1) Service fee charged by the issuer: please consult your issuer for details.

    (2) Service fee charged by the ATM acquirer in USA: some ATMs will charge surcharge fee, which is charged by the local banks in USA and which has nothing to do with UnionPay or the issuer.

    Cash withdrawal via debit card results in a lower commission fee.

  • Tips

    Select PINs that cannot be easily guessed by anyone.
    Never disclose your PIN to anyone who claims to represent the bank or the police.
    Be alert to your surroundings before conducting any banking transactions.
    Keep a close eye on your credit card during transaction to avoid any illegal activities.
    If your UnionPay card has been stolen/lost, please inform the issuer immediately.
