UNIONPAY AND TPBANK COLABORATE TO EXPAND CARD AND QR CODE PAYMENT ACCEPTANCE IN VIETNAM

International payment brand UnionPay (UPI) announced its payment collaboration with TPBank to expand card and QR Code payment acceptance in Vietnam, as part of an attempt to provide customers with a seamless payment method at many merchants locally.

The collaboration between the two parties will now allow millions of UnionPay customers to facilitate their payments via TPBank’s QR Code acceptance points and mPOS in Vietnam, starting as early as July 2019.

TPBank currently has over 30,000 QR Code acceptance points and a large number of mPOS terminals. UnionPay Cardholders will find it convenient to swipe their card and scan the QR Code at thousands of stores in Vietnam, as well as easily withdraw cash from TPBank’s ATM and LiveBank

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Vice President of  UPI Larry Wang, General Manager of  UPI South East Asia Wenhui Yang, Country Manager of  UPI Vietnam & Laos Arthur Liu, CEO of TPBank Nguyen Hung, Deputy CEO Dinh Van Chien, TPBank Card Center Director Hoang Ngoc Thuyet.

UPI has been actively deploying contactless terminals and QR Code for payment, as well as developing other innovative payment solutions with other partners in Vietnam, in line with the State Bank of Vietnam’s vision to become cashless by 2020.
