UnionPay cards have been accepted by most merchants in Taiwan, from department stores, restaurants, hotels, specialty stores in local and airport duty-free shops to various means of transport, covering clothing, foods, accommodation, traveling and entertainment in Taiwan. Almost all the ATMs in Taiwan can accept UnionPay cards.

Second payment and rapid purchasing by slapping cards
UnionPay “Mobile QuickPass” has been used by quite a few merchants in Taiwan, including much featured delicious food, souvenir stores, chain bookstores and hotels. Neither signature nor password is required if the purchasing amount of UnionPay credit cards is less than NTD 3,000.00.

THSRC, Taiwan railway, 55688 taxies and passenger transport can accept UnionPay cards for payment, and many taxies also support UnionPay Mobile QuickPass. In addition, UnionPay cards can be used to book tickets of THSRC online.
POS acceptance

Merchants with the signage of all accept UnionPay cards, including well-known merchants such as Ever Rich Golden Lake Plaza, Breeze Xinyi, Eslite Bookstore, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi,many delicious local cuisines and hotels from featured hostels to five-star hotels , transportation tools including THSRC, taxies, MRT, light rail, bus and ferry, and featured local entertainments such as Kaohsiung E-da World.
. Since that some of the merchants have yet to put up the UnionPay signage, cardholders may show their UnionPay cards upon the till and inquire about UnionPay acceptance.

When using co-branded cards, you are advised to choose UnionPay as the routing option to be benefited from the special offers and services provided by UnionPay.

Note：Some UnionPay card acceptors or acquirers route co-branded cards to corresponding card shcem according to the card BIN, which means co-branded cards transactions aren't routed to UnionPay without selection by cardholders and merchant cashiers. Please refer to the transaction results for the information about transaction routing.
Cash withdrawal

Almost all the ATMs in Taiwan Region can accept UnionPay cards. The logo of UnionPay is pasted or shown on the screen of ATMs equipped with the Chinese interface.

In Taiwan Region, the upper limit of single cash withdrawal of UnionPay cards at ATMs is NTD 20,000.00. See "Help Center-Card-using Instructions-Refined Card-using Tips" for relevant provisions.
Service Charge

1. In Taiwan Region, card-issuers may collect service charge for cash withdrawal at ATMs according to the actual situations. Consult card-issuers for the specific rate.
2. The service charge of using debits cards for cash withdrawal at ATMs is relatively lower.
Tips

Select PINs that cannot be easily guessed by anyone.
Never disclose your PIN to anyone who claims to represent the bank or the police.
Be alert to your surroundings before conducting any banking transactions.
Keep a close eye on your credit card during transaction to avoid any illegal activities.
If your UnionPay card has been stolen/lost, please inform the issuer immediately.
Introduction of Overseas Tax Refund

Reach airports or ports ahead of three (3) hours, and complete tax refund or other exit formalities in electronic machine for automatic tax refund or in tax refund service counter.
Prior to luggage transportation, take your entrance certificate and application form for tax refund to scan certificate and detailed materials of tax refund in electronic machine for automatic tax refund or in tax refund service counter. The tax refund system will indicate whether goods are essential to experience customs inspection. Such goods as unnecessary to be inspected can have tax refund directly transacted in electronic machine for automatic tax refund or in tax refund service counter.

Emergency Cash Service
When UnionPay cardholders have their cards lost or damaged in travel and thus suffer the failure to use cards, cardholders can call the hotline of the issuer or UnionPay hotline in local, and then get the cash at the emergency cash assistance service up to USD 5,000.
